Toddler-tasty, no-nasty Date Spread

Date spread

Want something to put on toast for the littlies that isn't packed full of sugar, but is something they will actually eat too? This date spread is my answer to both conundrums! Enjoy x and big thanks to mum for passing this one on :)

200g pack of dates

juice and zest of 1 lemon

1 tsp of cinnamon

1-2tsp LSA

1-2 tsp chia seeds

Cover the dates with boiing water and let them rest for a few hours until soft.

Then tip out almost all of the water from the dates, keep about 2 tablespoonfulls. Put the dates and soaking water in a blender along with the lemon juice and zest and cinnamon. Blend baby!

Add 1 tsp of LSA and 1 tsp of chia seeds, blend. If you think the spread needs more thickening, another teaspoon of both. Otherwise - enjoy!!

This mix will freeze for a good few months and will keep in the fridge for about 6 weeks.

Feel free to experiment with the spices you add and even the dried fruit you use.
